Data Regulation for law firms

Millions of words have been written about the General Data Protection Regulation. We know we’re adding to them but we want to address the practicalities of GDPR for lawyers. The challenge that faced lawyers was to become compliant before the commencement date of 25th May 2018. We helped many law firms go through the GDPR process leading up to and after the deadline!

We developed a practical Guide to GDPR for lawyers – taking you through a 6 step process to compliance. Starting off with the Data Audit, we then move to your Lawful Basis for Processing. Review your third party contracts and check their Privacy Statement then set your own Data Policies. You’ll then create your Privacy Statement before reviewing your Data Adequacy.

GDPR Guide, Workbook and Sample Templates

Our materials comprise the GDPR Guide for lawyers, a Workbook and a Booklet of Sample Templates. Following the GDPR Guide, you’ll complete the Workbook using the Samples Booklet for reference and quickly reach compliance with the GDPR. We’ve focused on the practicalities of achieving compliance. It’s all very well to read all the guidance that’s out there, but if you don’t have a foundation to start with, you’re likely to make wrong decisions, especially when it comes to deciding on your Lawful Basis for Processing of the different categories of data lawyers need to deal  with.

We believe in providing practical help for law firms through our GDPR for lawyers Guide. Our Guide and Workbook, supported by our Samples Booklet help you achieve compliance. It follows a step by step process and we have examples you can draw on to fit your own situation. Don’t just take our word for it.

Here’s what others have to say:

“We think you have a really good product here. Much better and more practical than all the other stuff we’ve read”

David Borrowman, Senior Partner, Caesar & Howie,  Solicitors

“GDPR is a critical concern for High Street solicitors. Brian O’Neill of Client Communications  is uniquely placed to appreciate and understand their needs. His background, technical skills and natural empathy with the profession make him the ideal choice to provide the training, the materials and support they will require. I cannot recommend him highly enough”

Douglas Mill, Consultant and former Chief Executive of the Law Society of Scotland

“I think these are great – covers everything required, in detail, but in a format that is easy for lawyers/practice managers to understand.”

Gregor Angus, Senior Business Development Manager, The Cashroom

“The guide was excellent – clearly written and short enough to not be intimidating. The workbook and sample booklet were also extremely helpful. The data audit was very comprehensive. Overall the advice in the guide and templates has been invaluable.”

John McKenzie, Chief Executive, Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow
